Canopy is a project workspace for notes, tasks, recordings, captures, attachments, and connected tools. This policy describes the current Canopy service and native apps.
What we store
Canopy stores the email address, optional display name, account and device identifiers, and the project content you choose to add. Project content may include tasks, notes, audio or video recordings, transcripts, screenshots, photos, files, and handwritten ink artifacts. Connected devices have a name, platform, timestamps, and revocation state.
How we use it
We use this information to sign you in, organize and synchronize your projects, provide device connections, store and deliver your media, and operate project-scoped connections that you explicitly authorize. An MCP or other connected client receives only the projects and capabilities you approve.
Audio, camera, and pen features
The apps request camera, microphone, speech-recognition, or Bluetooth access only when a feature needs it. On iOS, transcription runs on your device when the language and device support on-device recognition; the saved voice file is not sent to a remote transcription provider by that client. macOS screen capture also requires the Screen Recording permission when you capture the screen. The optional Neo R1 feature uses Bluetooth for pen discovery, authentication, live ink, and offline ink transfer.
Storage, logs, and sharing
Canopy uses Supabase-hosted services and private object storage, with Vercel hosting the web application. The service emits operational error logs for troubleshooting authentication, device, and storage failures. The audited service has no advertising or cross-app tracking integration. When you authorize a connected client, that client may process the data it receives under its own terms.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and project data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Archiving removes items from normal views while preserving them for recovery. Permanent deletion is asynchronous and protects media that remains shared with another project item. You may revoke devices and connected clients and use the available project and item deletion controls.
Use Settings → Delete Account in the current iOS or Mac app to permanently delete your account and owned project content, including archived items and media. Device and client access is revoked when deletion begins. Cleanup may remain pending while recent upload links expire; the app signs you out after completion. Content owned by other people in shared projects and copies you exported outside Canopy are not deleted. If you need help, email ben@caplock.ai.
